"Karl Lagerfeld can't use an ipod"

Suzy Menkes turns investigative reporter exposing tech-phobia amongst the world's top fashion designers:

"Domenico Dolce never touches a computer

Miuccia Prada can’t use Photoshop

Paul Smith doesn’t have a cellphone

Donatella Versace “doesn’t do the internet”

Karl Lagerfeld can’t use an iPod

Marc Jacobs can use an iPod but he can’t sync it" [Agenda inc.]

:(

Louboutin Lover wants to report on Kris Van Assche, Vivienne Westwood, Maison Martin Margiela, Yohji Yamamoto and more Dior but feels a bit under weather and is going to wrap up in a blanket and sip on soup...

Backstage at Christian Dior courtesy of Hintmag.com

Very excited about Paris Fashion Week, looking forward to Balenciaga and Dior, Stella and Yohji Yamamoto, Viktor & Rolf and Issey Miyake, Christian Lacroix and Givenchy, Hussein Chalayan and Bernhard Willhelm, Giambattista Valli and Valentino, Alexander McQueen (!) and Elie Saab, Chloe and Galliano, Lanvin and Miu Miu.....!!!!! *squeal*

Yummy, RTW still as desirable as couture (obviously couture is preferrable). Lash and counter-attack of the nude/bare face look is biggg! Over-lash yourself! Create your own eye contours.

Loving the over-embellishment here.

Lash-attack, love it!

Ugliest phone ever vs. Chanel Concept Phone vs. practically-ever-designer-out-there

Now, I know this is a blog about all things fashion - and so this includes the luxury phone market especially what with designer houses giving the go-ahead to licensing deals allowing their names to be emblazoned across any old handset (Dolce & Gabbana, Anna Sui, Emporio Armani, Prada and... more household names: Levis, Ted Baker?!)

This brings me to my latest discovery: the most horrific, bedazzled, 'hand-crafted' piece in the luxury phone market. Who would pay $3 077 for this!? With only a limited 50 handsets being produced, at least its unlikely i'll be bumping into anyone bearing such ridiculousness.

With the previous stint of purely bog-standard licensing deals, comes the natural step to revolutionse and colloborate with innovative designers to create the most outstanding pieces (so as not to damage brand image and just out of pure logic!)

Designer Fred de Garilhe has designed a new concept phone for Chanel named "Chanel Choco".

"The designer says Choco integrates an optical fiber system that allows it to display images seamlessly even between two pieces of glass. There are 12 micro lighter fibers inside the phone, so when the cover slides down, the lights activate to project the image you see. This type of technology keeps the phone as light as possible. It would be years before we ever see something like this become a reality, but it doesn't hurt to dream." (Yahoo)
I do love my gadgets so I look forward to the release!

On surfing the net, I also came across LV's new luxe USB design concept.

USB keys made of white gold, diamonds, and a choice of ostrich or alligator leather featuring a lock and key concept for the cap and an analog clock to double it up as a pocket watch - i'm sure it's not going to come cheap (especially with a rumoured 40GB capacity). (Yahoo)

I think that's enough technology blogging for now.

Christopher Kane speaks with Suzy Menkes

aw, Kane seems really quite timid and sweet. Perhaps he was initimidated by Ms. Menkes herself. hehe.

uh oh american apparel

Regular readers will know I am usually a fan of American Apparel, but I think this may have been an AA mistake:

£11 available @ http://store.americanapparel.co.uk/tr480.html#i

I understand 80s revival - but I'm not so sure about this!!

Life-changing activities

I went for my first graduate buying trainee scheme interview on Monday. It was an enlightening experience, the interview went pretty well. I was pretty well prepared for the majority of questions though I know which questions to prepare for next time, ones I hadn't thought of (which are pretty obvious on reflection) e.g.: "Who do you think is the most influential designer for the high street?" And now I have a bit more of a clue as the kind of group activities to expect and what employers look for. So all in all, even though I was unsuccessful this time around, I learnt a thing or two. There's still plenty more companies and applications to go. Phew. Meanwhile, if anyone wants to put in a good word at Arcadia or Selfridges HR - go ahead!! :D

In the meantime, L'Oreal Brandstorm heating up, ideas brewing and there's just one more term to go before the whole of my uni life is over. *Frightening* (& exciting...but mostly frightening) I'm going to miss my uni girls so much.

Pair of Pradas Please!

Miuccia Prada on lace A/W 08-09

"I wanted a surface that was simple - I needed something that moved. I started looking at lace and I became obsessed with it - and also, of course, because I never liked it. It reminds me of children, the church. I got rid of all the old connotations. Here, it was very feminine, elegant and dignified."

Lush stuff, check it out.

The retail therpay must stop!

Uh oh... another addition!! OK, the retail therapy must stop now. Not only did I purchase these cute pumps from Topshop Oxford Circus (heaven) but I also purchased a nice oversized grey cardigan from American Apparel. Bought it in a Medium just for that 'borrowed from the man' look, hot. Also got this fabulous soft leather mini from Pop Boutique, Covent Garden. Gosh I love that place!! £15 for a lush soft leather mini, fab fab fab.

Teamed it all together with bright purple tights and a plain white vest and a big aztec inspired necklace... loved my outfit today I must say ;)
