I lose myself

An intriguing multimedia fashion story pick of the season by Hint Mag for 'Fall 2006'.
The combined rhythm of graphic and song create a beautiful, yet dark story.

Unveiling Talent

Been browsing the net for the past hour stumbling across some exciting talent, like graphic design house M/M Paris:

and Tokyo based creative duo Mi-Zo [http://www.myspace.com/mi_zo & http://www.iqons.com/MI-ZO]:

Both creative talents were located by Hint Mag or Iqons, either way both portals are brilliant at unveiling new and exciting talent in the fashion world. They make me feel so inspired and hungry to learn more about the fashion industry. I want to go behind the scenes of a styling shoot, and no, I don't expect it to be glamorous work but to see how such beautiful intriguing images are created would be incredible.

Another talent I stumbled across on IQONs:

They've really created some absolutely beautiful images. xx

Fashion, Snobbery and the Like

I feel I'm in danger of becoming a typical Fashion Snob. A Fashion Bitch.

You know the types.

Take for example a PR assistant nattering on the phone to a journalist on the phone, talking gossip and all things 'now', as soon as the phone hangs up - bitching and back stabbing commences.

This is one of the reasons why I don't want to enter the Fashion PR or Journalism industry. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure not 100% of all PR/journalists are shamless backstabbers, but I think anyone that works in the industry could confirm at least 80%!

But, working with your peers and networking in the fashion circles, you find yourself resembling the above.
I hate the unnecessary bitchiness of some fashion folk. The sarcastic comments and critical judgements can, I admit, sometimes provide witty entertainment in fashion reviews but once the bitterness exudes and takes over, it gets dangerous and unpleasant.

The reason I suddenly became concerned with my veer towards snobbery was because of my day at work today. Working at a fast-fashion store that has less focus on customer service (though they say they do) and more focus on selling and running the sales assistants to the bone caused my (PMS) frustration today. More so than usual because I feel such a difference in goals and aspirations between myself and my colleagues. Many of my colleagues are teenagers in college or just finished my college with little/no aim in the future. Not so much because of laziness but perhaps just because they're in the in-between stage deliberating their future goals. It's not so much snobbery toward young students - how could I - I'm a student myself. But it was more... snobbery toward the .... 'locals'. Their in-jokes and hint of immaturity. And their ... well, snobbery toward me. Perhaps because I dress in a certain way and hold myself in a certain way, they think I'm of a (higher) different class to them which causes snobbery in the opposite manner that you'd expect. Which then causes me to react and hold the snobbery-defence.

Is snobbery a defence? Defence from those different to yourself?

At the end of the day, I wish it didn't exist - but it does.

All I know is that I'm absolutely in love with this Naomi Campbell shoot by Nick Knight, Source: showstudio.com
