My deadlines keep comin up quicker and quicker. No sooner done my visual communications ... trend observation and trend prediction photo essays displayed immaculately is going to be tricky when I have one week to produce it, print it, put it together and do my other module of work too.
Fingers crossed it will get done.
Aside from work, STAMP fashion tabloid mag has a launch party at Prohibition on Friday which I'll be attending. The third year girls look like they've done a great job on PR let alone the mag. I'll be takin a sneek peek at the mag at the launch. Photos and reviews will follow.
Till then, enjoy:

Fashion, Snobbery and the Like
I feel I'm in danger of becoming a typical Fashion Snob. A Fashion Bitch.
You know the types.
Take for example a PR assistant nattering on the phone to a journalist on the phone, talking gossip and all things 'now', as soon as the phone hangs up - bitching and back stabbing commences.
This is one of the reasons why I don't want to enter the Fashion PR or Journalism industry. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure not 100% of all PR/journalists are shamless backstabbers, but I think anyone that works in the industry could confirm at least 80%!
But, working with your peers and networking in the fashion circles, you find yourself resembling the above.
I hate the unnecessary bitchiness of some fashion folk. The sarcastic comments and critical judgements can, I admit, sometimes provide witty entertainment in fashion reviews but once the bitterness exudes and takes over, it gets dangerous and unpleasant.
The reason I suddenly became concerned with my veer towards snobbery was because of my day at work today. Working at a fast-fashion store that has less focus on customer service (though they say they do) and more focus on selling and running the sales assistants to the bone caused my (PMS) frustration today. More so than usual because I feel such a difference in goals and aspirations between myself and my colleagues. Many of my colleagues are teenagers in college or just finished my college with little/no aim in the future. Not so much because of laziness but perhaps just because they're in the in-between stage deliberating their future goals. It's not so much snobbery toward young students - how could I - I'm a student myself. But it was more... snobbery toward the .... 'locals'. Their in-jokes and hint of immaturity. And their ... well, snobbery toward me. Perhaps because I dress in a certain way and hold myself in a certain way, they think I'm of a (higher) different class to them which causes snobbery in the opposite manner that you'd expect. Which then causes me to react and hold the snobbery-defence.
Is snobbery a defence? Defence from those different to yourself?
At the end of the day, I wish it didn't exist - but it does.

Stress
Personal life is on the up but work is lagging behind.
I have an essay to write about Fashion Forecasting. The changing roles of those within the Fashion Forecasting industry e.g. trade fairs, forecasters, trend prediction agencies, the impact of the internet etc. All seems quite simple and straight forward but it's difficult to ensure I fill the academic requirements for the essay.
I have a few more photos to post up from the Oxfam Eco Chic Fashion show I mentioned in the previous post. Here goes:

Work, Love and Life
I will begin this blog with a little introduction. I am a 19 year old, second year Fashion Marketing & Communications student. I'm usually an ambitious, confident student and who likes to have fun with friends and out drinkin cocktails at bars.
Now, to the bulk of the blog: unfortunately, i'm going to have to start this blog on a downer.
... everytime i try to achieve the best in work, it never seems to work out.
things distract me.
things distract me.
i can't put 100% into work. i'm too tired.. i'm too ... distracted.
even when i feel i do put 100% into work, i realise i haven't when i see other people's presentations. i realise how average my work is.
it begins to make me doubt my potential for success in such a fast-paced industry.
this really is a dent in my confidence.
however, to contrast that.... i did some modelling at a charity fashion show last night that... well boosted my confidence and ego!

but now i am back to ground level and realise, i have no work experience lined up for the summer despite applying for many. (maybe i aimed too high?) i have no job prospects over summer. i don't know what i'm doing over the summer.
does anyone have any ideas how to make some ££ quick time over summer!? i need a holiday. most people go on 1-2 holidays a year. i barely go on one a year. my easter holiday was a 3 night stay in southend at my boyfriend's place. i haven't been whisked away to rome, barcelona or paris like many. i don't understand how students get to go on holiday!? how can my friends afford it?
......... i suppose i do spend a lot of money on clothes and shoes. but. i gathered that the equivalent i spent on those items, my friends spend on drugs and alcohol. lol ... who knows.
... i feel a little lost ... lost in my lack of confidence that i'm not used to having. desperately trying to keep a grip of my positiveness that i usually hold.
something happened recently which i think is why i am feeling all the above has got to me a little harder than i'd usually expect. i usually just take rejection and lack of results from uni work with a pinch of salt and strive to do better and move on. but now i'm coming to the end of 2nd year i dont feel i've improved a lot. i feel lost after receiving some hard-hitting-news and i'm feeling a heavy weight from family life issues... that no-one else seems to really be confronting.
... i need a slap in the face and a shot of coffee and i'll be back to my usual, self-confident and ambitious self. hopefully.
